A Look Inside : COMO Le Beauvallon – Saint-Tropez’s Legendary Hotel Is Back
Some places don’t just reopen, they return with a point to prove. COMO Le Beauvallon in St Tropez is one of them. COMO Le Beauvallon isn’t simply reopening its doors. It’s reclaiming its place on the Riviera stage, with enough history to feel iconic and enough fresh energy to feel relevant again.
First opened in 1914 on the shores of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, this Belle Époque landmark has spent more than a century collecting stories, glamour and a certain Riviera mystique. After closing its doors in 2008, it slipped into silence, and like all the best legends, its absence only made it more intriguing. Now, in 2026, it steps back into the spotlight.

Set across a ten-acre Mediterranean estate, the property still has all the drama of its original setting. Tucked into landscaped gardens above the glittering Gulf of Saint-Tropez, COMO Le Beauvallon is being reimagined as an intimate Riviera hideaway, with just 42 rooms and suites spread across the mansion and gardens. That sense of privacy is part of the appeal, yet Saint-Tropez is still just an eight-minute boat ride away.
The mood is pure Côte d’Azur: shuttered façades, wide lawns, palms swaying beside the water and a shimmering 25-metre mosaic-tiled pool that feels made for long, lazy afternoons. A private pontoon and beach club only add to the sense that this is your own little stretch of coastline, wrapped in old-world glamour and modern ease.

Inside, the rooms are light-filled and quietly elegant, with many opening onto garden or sea views across the yacht-dotted bay. Superior and Deluxe Rooms are ideal for couples, while the larger Junior Suites and multi-room suites work beautifully for families, some with integrated living areas and the option for a cot. At the top end, the COMO Suite brings a more indulgent mood altogether, with panoramic Gulf views, generous entertaining space, and a decadent bathroom complete with Jacuzzi and double shower. Throughout, soothing palettes, modern comforts and COMO Shambhala toiletries keep the atmosphere calm, polished and deeply comfortable.

At the centre of the renaissance is Yannick Alléno, one of the most influential names in French cuisine. Rather than lending his name to a single restaurant, he has shaped the culinary identity of the entire estate, bringing his signature mix of precision, imagination and global perspective to every dining space. It’s an ambitious move, and exactly the kind that gives COMO Le Beauvallon its sense of momentum.
For the interiors, COMO and Alléno turned to French designer Dorothée Delaye, whose approach balances heritage with a crisp contemporary sensibility. Her vision of Belle Époque Riviera is warm, elegant and quietly playful, with refined columns, wrought-iron curves, marquetry inspired by the bay’s Riva boats, and a palette of sunlit yellow and sea-washed blue. The result feels classic, but never stiff; polished, but never predictable.
Beauvallon Sur Mer by Yannick Alléno is the beating heart of the estate. Positioned right on the water, with uninterrupted views across the gulf, it brings together a restaurant, lounge bar and rooftop terrace in one beautifully layered setting. Open to hotel guests as well as external visitors, it is designed to feel lively from lunch through to late-night cocktails.

Upstairs, the rooftop offers one of the best view points on the whole hotel. It’s the kind of place where lunch turns into aperitifs, and aperitifs linger into evening. Designed as a space to see and be seen without feeling overdone, it brings a cosmopolitan energy to the historic rotunda.
The Winter Garden is the most atmospheric room on the property. Beneath its luminous glass ceiling, it captures the spirit of the original palace while softening it for the present day. Here, Mediterranean cuisine with Niçoise touches sits comfortably alongside French classics, making it a natural place for breakfast, long lunches and elegant dinners.
Then there’s the Riviera Terrace, where the mood shifts again. Designed by Paola Navone of Otto Studio, this open-air setting feels like the social heartbeat of the gardens. It’s relaxed, stylish and made for that most Riviera of rituals: a cocktail at golden hour that somehow stretches long after sunset.
Days here fall easily into a relaxed rhythm. Start with breakfast, drift between the pool, the beach club and the nearby fairways of Golf Club de Beauvallon, then linger over lunch at Beauvallon Sur Mer or keep things lighter in the Winter Garden, where COMO Shambhala Kitchen dishes bring a more health-conscious edge. Later, retreat to the COMO Shambhala Retreat for holistic spa treatments, yoga or a workout before aperitifs in the bar and a slow stroll through the gardens as the light fades.
