A Look Inside : The Newman, Fitzrovia’s New Boutique Hotel
Fitzrovia has always had a certain mystique about it, the bohemian heartland of 1920’s London, buzzing with writers, artists, and free spirits. The Newman, Fitzrovia’s newest boutique hotel on Newman Street, leans all the way into that legacy, and is making waves for all the right reasons.
The Address
The Newman way of standing out is simple – it is unapologetically neighbourhood-driven. Everything inside draws inspiration from Fitzrovia’s rich history, and neighbourhood character, resulting in a hotel that feel specific to its postcode rather than any other generic luxury hotel in London.
Just a stone’s throw away from Soho’s electric energy and Mayfair’s glamour, Fitzrovia feels wonderfully its own. This little corner of London blends Georgian charm with an undercurrent of creative grit. With the British Museum practically on its doorstep, Fitzrovia is one of those rare neighbourhood places in London, where you can feel the energy of the city yet away from it all.

The Rooms
Designed by Lind & Almond every corner of the property channels Art Deco glamour with an unmistakable Fitzrovian soul. Every piece of furniture is bespoke, punctuated by carefully chosen contemporary accents that keep things feeling fresh rather than frozen in time.
The Newman features 81 rooms, it’s intimate by London standards. The vibe is warm, and just the right amount of cosy. Every detail nods subtly to Fitzrovia’s artistic past from bespoke bedheads inspired by writer-activist Nancy Cunard’s signature bangles and marble sinks echoing the curves of nearby Art Deco landmark Shropshire House.
Aside from the style, The Newman gets the basics right from smart tech that actually works, silky sheets, morning coffee pod machine, the Deesse Pro Express LED mask, the Hyperice massage gun, or the full-size minibar, whisper-quiet walls, and a single button that turns out every light. All rooms come stocked with Anatomē products throughout.

Book one of the terrace or balcony rooms at The Newman to add a rare layer of outdoor living to a central London stay. Rooms such as One Bedroom Terrace Suite, Studio with Terrace, and Classic with Balcony offer private open air space, perfect for morning coffee, evening drinks, or simply taking in Fitzrovia from above.
The highlight however, is Penthouse Suite that comes with a large rooftop terrace complete with private dining for eight, a sauna, cold plunge, and jaw-dropping views of the BT Tower.

Dine & Drink
On the dining front, Brasserie Angelica brings a refreshing Nordic flavours to the hotel. An all day dining affair, the space moves through three different moods, think morning coffee, lazy brunch and and linger-over-a-glass-of-wine evenings.
But the real star of the show is the Gambit Bar. Located downstairs, Gambit Bar is The Newman’s nightlife ace. It has more of a private members club feel to it than a hotel bar. Its buzzing with midweek jazz sets, DJ’s on the weekend and very adventurous cocktail list. Art Deco reaches its peak here, a long copper bar, sunburst ceiling, and quirky curves, plus in-laid floor symbols that nod to infamous Fitzrovian Aleister Crowley.
