A Look Inside : Six Senses London – From Magnesium Pool, Biohacking & Members’ Club

Six Senses London, marks the brand’s debut in the U.K. and adding another jewel to its growing collection of wellness-led hotspot in London. Set within the storied Whiteleys building one of London’s first department stores this opening breathes new life into a Westbourne Grove icon that’s fast becoming a refined pocket of luxury.

Set a stone’s throw from Hyde Park’s calm and Notting Hill’s colour, Six Senses London is house in a Grade II-listed landmark crowned with an elegant domed roof and grand historic façade. Here, wellness and heritage sit side by side, creating a rare kind of stillness in the heart of London.

The Whiteley London carries a rich cultural legacy. It first opened in 1911 as one of Britain’s first department stores, the landmark has now been reimagined under the masterful eye of Foster + Partners. At its centre rises the restored grand staircase, once the defining feature of the original department store, deconstructed, lengthened, and rebuilt, it now ascends through three floors up to the glass-domed ceiling. The interiors are by AvroKO in collaboration with EPR Architects, they have beautifully preserved the Whiteley’s original Grade II listed façade while maintaining its Art Deco heritage.

Six Senses London brings together 109 rooms and suites, many with private terraces, alongside 14 branded residences. Glass rain showers, towering windows, inky blues and warm woods blend with bold lines and Art Deco curves. The Junior Corner Terrace Suite wraps around its own balcony, while its green-tiled bathroom features a private door that opens directly to the outdoors. The Notting Hill Suite is equally charming, with a generous terrace fitted with a picnic table and sun-dappled lounging spots.

Crowning the hotel, is the Whiteley Suite, stretching across the entire building, complete with a full-length terrace framing Hyde Park views. Inside, the suite boasts two king bedrooms, two freestanding tubs. There’s a dining table for eight, an open-plan living area, and space that flows with ease. City views stretch wide and a kitchen and bar complete the picture.

Wellness is at the core of Six Senses London, with a spa spanning expansive 2,300 square metres. It is home to London’s first ever magnesium pool, which is infused with naturally occurring minerals, which supports muscular recovery and nervous system regulation unlike traditional chlorine pools.

Elsewhere, there is also a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, a 325-square-metre fitness centre, and dedicated yoga and mindful movement studios. Thirteen wellness spaces and six treatment rooms encompass cryotherapy, flotation, red-light therapies, a traditional hammam, and a sensory suite. The Biohack Recovery Lounge, designed as a reset shortcut for performance and recovery, offers personalised blends using PEMF therapy, sound loungers, compression boots, lymphatic suits, electro muscle stimulation, vibration platforms, and inversion tables.

An integrated Wellness Centre offers private consultations and advanced functional screenings, including biomarker analysis and lifestyle evaluation, forming the foundation for sleep regulation, metabolic health, cognitive performance, and stress management.

The Alchemy Bar – led by Head Alchemist Charlotte Pulver – functions as a contemporary apothecary, guided by the Anglo-Celtic calendar. Here, transform locally foraged herbs are transformed into tinctures and tonics used across treatments, restaurants and bars, and steam and hammam rituals.

On the first floor, Six Senses London has partnered with HUM2N, the longevity clinic founded by Dr. Mohammed Enayat. Enhancing the hotel’s wellness offering, it provides advanced blood diagnostics, IV nutrient therapy, hormone optimisation, and performance-focused health protocols. This is complemented by a hyperbaric chamber designed to simulate altitude conditions and support cellular adaptation in a clinically supervised environment within the hotel.

As with every Six Senses property, wellness is woven into every part of the experience, including in restaurants, where the philosophy celebrates the seasons, using the finest local and sustainable ingredients in their natural form. At Six Senses London, this comes to life through bold, modern British cuisine at Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar and Café. Executive Chef Eliano Crespi and Head Chef Jose Jara craft vegetable-forward plates that spotlight preservation and open-fire cooking, blending heritage methods with contemporary flair. A dedicated fermentation lab produces everything from house-made koji to fruit preserves, adding depth of flavour while supporting gut health and sustainability.

The bar follows the same thoughtful approach. Cocktails are designed to shine with or without alcohol, keeping ingredient integrity at the centre. The signature serve, Clouds Over Islay, blends Bruichladdich whisky with amazake and lemon hydrosol crafted in collaboration with the hotel’s Alchemy Bar. Meanwhile, the wine list celebrates British vineyards and small independent growers, reflecting the kitchen’s devotion to seasonality and place.

Just above the lobby is the world’s first Six Senses Place — a private social and wellness club. Its year-round programme, known as the Almanac, is thoughtfully shaped around the seasons and cultural moments, bringing members together for talks, shared meals, and experiences that focus on self-growth and mindful healing.
