Voyager Station : First Space Hotel Aims To Open By 2027

This luxury resort like experience is literally out of this world experience. Yes, you read it right. A hotel in space. The Gateway Foundation has announced that it intends to open the first ever luxury hotel in space: Voyager Station.

Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC), a space construction company has announced the plans to commence construction on the Voyager Station in 2026. The space hotel will look somewhat like a ferris wheel structure floating in orbit with an outer ring connected to the center hub of the structure by elevators. Interesting Engineering says, Voyager Station will spin like a Ferris wheel and use centrifugal force — the apparent outward force on a mass when rotated — to simulate moon-like levels of gravity. It will have artificial gravity to ensure it doesn’t float away.

The Voyager Station is set to accommodate up to 280 guests and is designed to have the luxury hotel feel, with natural materials and colours. This one of a kind experience won’t simply be a place to stay, it plans to offer a luxury experience in space – with all the amenities you would expect from a luxury hotel on earth, including restaurant & bar, spa, gym, shopping, and even a movie theatre. There is also talk of activities such as basketball where you can reach higher (6 times higher) thanks to the weightlessness of the environment. You will also have the opportunity to space walk. The food will be the traditional ‘space food’ such as freeze dried ice cream.

The exact cost is yet to be confirmed, but the team at Voyager Station have assured that they plan to make stay at the space hotel very similar to a cruise holiday overtime. To experience Voyager Station you will need to undergo some space training.
