The entwined histories of The Savoy and Gucci goes long back. Guccio Gucci, the company’s founder, worked as a luggage porter at The Savoy as a young man. During this time, he gained direct access to the tastes and needs of travelling customers, escorting them from floor to floor. Seeing the luxurious luggage and elegant clothes of guests fuelled his desire to start his own leather goods company shortly after returning to Italy from London.

The relationship between the two was first under the spotlight upon the reveal of Gucci’s Aria Collection in April 2021, privately screened locally at The Savoy. Numerous references to the hotel and its role in shaping Gucci’s mythology were included in the Collection and its presentation.

The Royal Suite is The Savoy’s flagship suite, running the length of the fifth floor riverside. Floor to ceiling windows frame unparalleled views of the River Thames and London landmarks. Offering an immersive Gucci experience, the interior of the Royal Suite has been redesigned to be a reflection of the Gucci world, with furniture, furnishings and decorative items from the Gucci Décor Collection—all purchasable.
