Gucci Valigeria Paris : Gucci Opens First Stand-alone Luxury Travel Store In Paris
Gucci, like many other luxury fashion houses, has been producing luggage for decades and now Gucci has opened its first standalone luxury travel store in Paris. Gucci Valigeria. Located at 229 Rue Saint-Honoré, nestled between Place Vendôme and Jardin des Tuileries, not far from the Louvre, Gucci Valigeria spreads over 2 floors.
Guccio Gucci’s first items after opening his store in Florence in 1921 were trunks, suitcases, and hatboxes. Keeping true to its roots, Gucci Valigeria is inspired by their original Florence store, with brass shelving and arched ceilings. Gucci Valigeria offers the full range of Gucci’s travel line, everything from totes, backpacks, exotic-skin versions of the weekender duffel, hard and soft trunks to aluminium cases created in collaboration with Italian luxury luggage maker FPM Milano. Many of these styles are from the Gucci Savoy collection, which features heritage-inspired elements such as the monogram, Double G hardware, and/or Web stripe. You will also find travel essentials such as pyjamas, eye masks, beauty products and pet accessories.
The store’s interiors draw inspiration from luxury travel during the Belle Époque. Inspired by train travel, the ground floor is designed to look like an opulent train station, complete with a cash register concealed as a welcome desk.On the first floor, brass shelving resembles the racks found in vintage trains, and the ceiling is inspired by the arched roofs of carriages. A tartan-patterned loom-woven carpet and plush banquette seating create a warm ambience.
“Gucci Valigeria is a powerful reminder of our Florentine roots and our timeless craft,” says Marco Biz-zarri, President and CEO of Gucci. “It is a symbol of our legacy, reinterpreted through the ages for the travellers and modern-day explorers of every era. Paris’s Rue Saint-Honoré is the perfect location to house our first Gucci Valigeria boutique, offering a portal into our ever-expanding world of travel and discovery.“
