PurePods Expand Their Network Of Sustainable Glass Cabin

The PurePods concept comes from a deep love for nature combined with a desire to share that love in a way that is memorable for you – an intensely personal deep immersion into Pure New Zealand.

PurePod is a glass eco-cabin, yes, even the roof is glass! At night, you sleep with the Southern Cross and millions of other stars above, by day you are surrounded by dramatic natural landscapes with your own secret slice of pure New Zealand literally at the back door (and the front door, and the side door!). PurePods are designed to ensure you experience nature’s show vividly, utilizing all your senses whilst remaining sheltered in luxury. The privacy, the isolation of a tiny glass hut completely surrounded by nature – the sky, the hills, the sea, the birds, the bush – takes you to another world.

And now, PurePods are expanding their network of glass cabins into Rakiura Stewart Island within a conservation reserve and the southernmost Dark Sky Sanctuary. With 9 different PurePod locations to select from, each PurePod is set in a unique and secluded part of the beautiful New Zealand landscape.

Hananui and Tokoeka PurePods are nestled within the wild that is the untouched region of Rakiura Stewart Island, behind a predator-proof fence amongst the majesty of the most southern Dark Sky Sanctuary. They are perfectly positioned to take full advantage of the stunning skyscape views, turquoise sea and white sand beaches. Brimming with birdsong, wildlife and lush fauna these are just a few of the wonders in store for guests.
These two PurePods are a 15-minute scenic flight from Invercargill or a 60-minute ferry ride from Bluff and take unforgettable to the next level! PurePods chief executive Stephanie Hassall says, “it has been hard to keep this one under our hats given it is such a unique and special location.”

“We could not be more excited to launch our first PurePods in Rakiura Stewart Island within Mamaku Point Conservation Reserve. Being located behind a predator-proof fence and with special red lighting that allows kiwi spotting at night from the deck or bed of the PurePods really is a phenomenal opportunity.”

“Hananui PurePod has spectacular views across Lee Bay and spans out towards Hananui or Mount Anglem. Cocooned in the bush, surrounded by the cacophony of birdsong under skies is and experience like no other, our guests are in for a real treat,” said Ms Hassall.
Like the other PurePod locations, they are deliberately free of a wi-fi connection, private and environmentally friendly. “Privacy is assured at the Rakiura PurePods due to them being tucked away behind the predator-proof fence,” said Ms Hassall.

Hananui and Tokoeka PurePods have minimal impact on the natural environment while offering a luxurious way to experience nature. The PurePod uses sustainable energy,
minimizing the use of non-renewable energy sources. Rainwater that falls on the roof is returned to the surrounding area to water the native plants.
