Originally brought by Count Antonio Bolza 25 years ago and is now led by his son, Count Benedikt, and his wife, Donna Nencia. With the help of local artisans, carpenters, stonemasons, and tile makers, the design led Hotel Castello Di Reschio castle has come to life. While remaining true to the building’s history, they have managed to bring modern grace to the interior of the castle’s walls. It is a place renowned for its warm Italian hospitality and encourages families of all sizes to enjoy their stay.

Featuring 36 rooms located inside the castle, the rooms, and suites contained within these ancient castle walls are imbued with personality and panache, thanks to our organic approach to contemporary design coupled with a discerning nod to the intriguing characters who once called this home. 7 magnificent houses are scattered around the wild expanse of Reschio once in ruins but now carefully and meticulously restored. Each house is truly unique, sitting amongst the charming hills with undisturbed views of the pristine estate.

The 2-bed Tower Suite is a particular highlight, the most ancient part of the castle, built in 900AD, spreads over five floors with a spectacular terrace. Relax on the day bed in the terrace or on the roof garden with an open-air tub, soak up the atmosphere with incredible 360° views of the landscape in the surrounding Umbrian hills.

The décor is subtle and sensual with bespoke furniture ancient wooden beams, hand-stitched linen curtain, all flooded with natural light, with views both out over the rolling countryside and into the oval castle courtyard. The walls are lined with old photographs and ornaments discovered in local antique markets and ancient wooden beams and terracotta floors giving it a contemporary look that allows you to reflect on the estate’s history and ponder about who might have lived there.

Castello Di Reschio culinary offering is sustainable, with the hotel championing a fully farm-to-fork ethos. The ingredients on your plate are as fresh as they can be from, freshly picked vegetables from the kitchen garden, olive oil from their own trees, truffles from the nearby forests and fresh fish.

The authentic Italian food is served up in cinematic locations: Ristorante Al Castello and Bar Centrale, which is the centrepiece and almost an artwork in its own right. Relaxing afternoon tea is also on offer at the palm court or head to the poolside Torrino bar for some freshly made juices or cocktails. In addition, the 1,500-hectare estate also produces outstanding light reds and rosés, and some Reschio houses have their own private vineyards, where the head winemaker oversees the careful wine production for the owners.

Castello Di Reschio also offers a plethora of things to do on the estate’s premises. For those that enjoy water, there is a clam lake where you can take part in paddleboarding, fishing and even hire out the lake cabin for the day. Those of you that like being active, you can enjoy biking around the estate, tennis on the court, and truffle hunting in the forests during the truffle hunting season. If you’re looking to be a bit more creative, you can take part in the olive oil pressing and honey making.

Hotel Castello Di Reschio is perfect for equestrian enthusiasts with horse stables that were launched by the founder, Count Antonio Bolza, in 1999. It is now home to some of Italy’s finest, most highly skilled dressage horses. For those rainy days head inside where Hotel Castello Di Reschio have converted the castle’s ancient wine cellar into a bathhouse with a roman-styled bath, sauna, and treatment room. Located just outside the castle walls is the outdoor swimming pool.
