May Fair Kitchen : Rediscover Mayfair’s Finest With An Exciting Japanese And Italian Culinary Journey

 May Fair Kitchen, located in the vibrant hum of London’s most iconic neighbourhood has relaunched with a refreshed à la carte menu and a revamped interior. The new May Fair Kitchen concept offers an intimate and exclusive dining experience that blends the essence of a Japanese izakaya with the flavours of Italy to be enjoyed over lunches, and drawn-out dinners.

Curated by the visionary Executive Head Chefs, Matt Downes and Shailesh Deshmukh, alongside the expertise of Service Excellence Director, Amir Jati, the new menu features a meticulous selection of light dishes that are designed to be shared and prepared with the freshest seasonal ingredients. The May Fair Kitchen features an open kitchen concept, allowing guests to witness the skilled chefs in action as they prepare a delectable array of dishes.

Drawing inspiration from Japan’s laid-back izakaya culture, the Japanese menu artfully reimagines classic moriawase, omakase, sashimi, tempura, and robata dishes, infusing them with a modern touch. Japanese seafood platter come highly recommended, with dressed oysters, Hamachi tartare, Tuna sashimi and Cornish crab dressed in chilli and lemon. Crispy king prawns tempura with wasabi mayonnaise and Baby chicken roasted with lemon and miso butter is a must-try, along with the premium A5 grade Wagyu – which simply melts in your mouth, it is also worth noting it is thoughtfully sourced from ethical farms and fishmongers. For vegetarian option, we recommend the Crispy Japanese aubergine with black pepper and ginger.

From Puglia to Parma, the Italian menu takes you on a journey through regional Italy. Some of the highlights on the menu include, Stracciatella Pugliese and strawberry salad with aged balsamic – which delivers a unique fusion of flavour. Homemade pasta- bucatini with nduja, san marzano tomatoes and pecorino, Parmesan and lemon crusted French trimmed lamb cutlets. The menu also features classic Italian dishes such as Pizza Napoletana and Wild mushroom risotto.

To complement the culinary delights, May Fair Kitchen’s head mixologist Pierpaolo Schirru has curated a new cocktail menu featuring expertly crafted cocktails. The extensive list of signature cocktails, sake, and wine complement the flavours of the dishes. All the cockatils come with May Fair Kitchen’s own unique twist, the Tonka passion fruit Martini with Haku vodka, passion fruit puree, Passoã, tonka syrup, lime, and yoghurt, topped with Whispering Angel rosé and wild strawberry foam – is a must-try.

Some of the other highlights include Lychee & apricot rosé which includes a lychee sake house blend, Hendrick’s gin, crème de apricot, Kwai Feh, Mount Fuji bitters, and topped with Moët Chandon Rosé; and Café exprés Martini a take on the espresso martini with VIVIR Café tequila, Skyy vodka, Disaronno, Mac Macadamia liqueur, and espresso, garnished with a smoked almond tuile.

The restaurant has adopted a new informal and convivial concept, which is reflected in its décor. Inspired by Japanese aesthetics, the restaurant features delicate sheer curtains framing the entrance, a captivating large red-framed fabric circle adorns the far-end wall, adding a touch of visual appeal and expansive windows offer serene views of bay trees and billowing sheer fabric panels.

 The space is adorned with long raw wooden tables and white and black marble, creating a rustic yet sophisticated feel. The seating options are varied, ranging from long tables to intimate tables for two or four. Overhead, brass pipe lights adorned with filament bulbs gracefully hang throughout the space. In the heart of the restaurant, on Thursdays – Saturdays from 7pm a DJ sets the mood with a selection of relaxing, ambient, and electronic tracks, enhancing the overall dining experience.
