SURI : The Electric Toothbrush Made for Frequent Travellers

There are certain travel essentials for frequent travellers where design genuinely matters. A well-made weekender bag, a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones, a compact charger that replaces several others. These items earn their place in a carry on because they combine function with a considered design. SURI, the British-founded oral care brand, takes much the same approach to the electric toothbrush.

SURI Pro 2.0 takes the familiar electric toothbrush and makes it considerably more travel-friendly. Yes, it is slim and features a durable aluminium body, but its appeal goes beyond aesthetics. Its sonic motor delivers up to 30,000 vibrations per minute, with Clean and Polish modes, while Touchsense™ pressure sensing and a two-minute quadrant timer are designed to make brushing more controlled. The battery lasts up to 34 days on a charge, and the body is IPX7 waterproof.

The Travel Case Does More Than Store It

The cleverest part of the setup is arguably the optional Travel Clean-and-Charge Case. Rather than simply protecting the toothbrush inside your luggage, it combines battery-powered UV-C cleaning with USB-C charging. The UV-C light is designed to kill up to 99.9% of bacteria, while the case can charge the toothbrush itself. That means storage, cleaning and charging are handled within one compact accessory, without requiring a separate toothbrush charging cable when the case is being used. It is the kind of feature that seems excessive until you are travelling regularly. Then, having one less dedicated charger to find space for starts to feel rather sensible.

A More Considered Design

The Pro 2.0 also looks considerably removed from the bulky plastic electric toothbrush. The aluminium body gives it a slimmer, more tactile finish, with six colourways including Winter Fern, Morning Waves, Sea Mist, Canyon Sunrise, Sunset Bloom and Midnight Black. The design is not purely cosmetic. The latest version is more than seven per cent lighter than its predecessor and has been re-engineered for easier disassembly, making the construction feel more considered from both a practical and lifecycle perspective.

Then there is the magnetic mirror mount. Attach it to a mirror, tile or wall and the toothbrush can be stored vertically rather than occupying precious space around the basin. In a hotel bathroom, where the available counter space can be surprisingly limited, it is a small detail that makes immediate sense.

The Substance Behind the Style

The travel credentials would count for little if the brushing experience was secondary. The Pro 2.0 uses a sonic motor delivering up to 30,000 vibrations per minute, with two cleaning modes, pressure sensing and a quadrant timer. The Touchsense™ system is designed to alert you when you are applying too much pressure, while the timer divides the two-minute brushing cycle into four 30-second sections. It is a straightforward feature set, but one that covers the essentials without burying them under unnecessary settings.

There are also some impressive clinical figures attached to the brush. SURI’s testing found more than five times as much plaque removed after the first use and four times healthier gums after two weeks compared with a manual toothbrush.

Sustainability Beyond the Packaging

The replaceable brush heads use cornstarch and castor oil alongside medium-soft bristles, with a recommended replacement period of around three months. That is useful for travellers in its own right. Even a lengthy trip is unlikely to require more than one head, while a recycling programme allows used heads to be returned through a prepaid scheme in the UK and US. It is a more tangible approach to sustainability than simply putting an eco label on the packaging. The aluminium body, plant-based components and recycling programme all form part of the product’s wider design.

Our Verdict

For anyone who regularly moves between airports, hotels and different time zones, the proposition is considerably more compelling. The slim aluminium body makes it easier to pack, the 34-day battery removes much of the usual charging hassle, the travel case combines USB-C charging with UV-C cleaning, and the magnetic mount makes better use of limited bathroom space. Add the plant-based brush heads and considered construction, and it becomes a product that feels designed around how people actually travel.

SURI Pro 2.0 is not simply an electric toothbrush that happens to travel well. It feels like an electric toothbrush designed from the outset to go with you. And that is ultimately what makes it stand out, it manages to make something as unglamorous as packing a toothbrush feel like a small but genuinely considered part of the travel experience. For frequent travellers, we think that makes it one of the more convincing electric toothbrushes to keep in your carry-on.
